Date Night in the ‘Burgh

29 Nov

After the game on Saturday we checked into the beautiful Fairmont Pittsburgh.  The lobby was very modern.

After checking in, we bundled up and went out to explore the city.

We found a huge gingerbread house display in the windows of the PPG buildings.

The houses went on forever.  We went inside to see the Winter Wonderland and found even more houses.  They were all so creative.

Some of my favorites:

Heinz Field

Mellon Arena

Consol Energy Center

Market Square was just a block from our hotel.

The square was decorated for Christmas and the lights changed to the music that was playing.

After enjoying all of the Christmas decorations, we headed back up to our room to get ready for dinner.  We had a great view of the PPG buildings and Market Square from our window.

We walked down the block to Elements.

We enjoyed a complimentary meat and cheese tray because we mentioned our anniversary in our reservation.  Thank you Elements!

Tony started with the Duck Confit Pizza and I had the Apple & Endive Panzanella salad.  They were both fantastic!  The salad was one of the best salads I have ever had.

I ordered the Veal Cheek and Tony had the Skate Wing for dinner.  Both were delicious and quite different from each other.

After dinner we took a chilly walk to Point State Park to see the Christmas Tree.

We said goodbye to Pittsburgh on Sunday and came back to South Carolina.

Thank you Mom & Dad for such a great trip to Pittsburgh.  We had a great time!  We love you both!

These pictures are making me hungry. Loved all the gingerbread houses. Might have to take a ride to Pittsburgh during my Christmas Vacation to check them out. Quinn loves that kind of stuff.

You should take him. They were fantastic. There is also an outdoor ice rink that you can skate on. We are thinking about going back when we come in for Christmas.
